How far in advance should I contact Drake Real Estate?
Please contact our office 60 days prior to your anticipated move in date to review any available properties.
How much is the deposit and when do I have to pay it?
The deposit is equal to one month rent; additionally, at the time that the lease is signed, the first month rent is due. Both the deposit and first month rent should be paid in the Student Account office. The deposit will be refunded to you when you move out, provided that no damages have been done to the property, you have fulfilled your nine month lease, proper notice is given and all University charges have been paid.
Can I paint my apartment a different color?
We do not generally allow any type of alteration of the premise.
How do I make a rent payment and when is it due?
All rent is due on or before the first day of the month. Rent can be paid with a money order order or personal check through the mail or dropped off at the Student Accounts Office. Cash payments can be made at the Student Accounts/Cashier's Office as well. You may also pay your rent by credit card in the Students Account/Cashier's Office or by calling 515-271-3805. Rent is considered late after the 5th day of any month, unless the 1st is a holiday.

Do you allow pets?
No pets are allowed in any Drake Real Estate properties.
When do you show apartments/houses?
We will show vacant houses and apartments during our office hours.
What are the eligibility requirements to live in Drake Real Estate?
We accept full and part-time students of Drake University. Drake requires that students live on campus for 2 years unless they obtain a release from Residence Life, are an acceptable transfer student or live with a parent or guardian within a small radius of campus.
What is the length of a lease?
Our leases are for nine months, and month-to-month thereafter.
